Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how personal information submitted through this website is handled. It is based on Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) and the guidance of the Personal Information Protection Commission (PPC).
1. Business operator
This website (“CKO Accounting & Tax”) is operated by CKO Accounting & Tax Office, a sole proprietorship providing accounting and tax services in Japan. “CKO Accounting & Tax” is a website and brand name; the business operator responsible for handling personal information (the personal information handling business operator under the APPI) is CKO Accounting & Tax Office. When you submit the inquiry form, we collect the information you enter:
- Your name
- Email address
- Company or organization name (if you provide one)
- Country of residence or headquarters country
- The description of your situation and the support you require
We do not intentionally collect any other personal information through this website.
3. How we collect it
We collect this information directly from you when you complete and submit the inquiry form. The form is processed using Netlify Forms (see “Service providers and data processing” below).
4. Purposes of use
We use the personal information you provide in order to:
- review and respond to your inquiry;
- communicate with you about your inquiry and any resulting engagement;
- if you become a client, provide the agreed accounting and tax services; and
- comply with applicable laws and regulations.
We do not use your information for unrelated marketing.
5. Contact and inquiry handling
Inquiries are handled by CKO Accounting & Tax Office. Initial communication is generally by email. Information you submit is used only for the purposes described above.
6. Disclosure to third parties
We do not sell your personal information. We do not disclose it to third parties except: (a) with your consent; (b) where required or permitted by law; or (c) to the service providers that process data on our behalf to operate this website and the inquiry form, as described below.
7. Service providers and data processing
We use Netlify (Netlify, Inc.), a United States–based provider, to host this website and to receive and store inquiry-form submissions through Netlify Forms. Submissions are stored in Netlify’s system and are accessible to us through the Netlify dashboard, email notification, CSV export, and API. 8. Cross-border processing
Because Netlify is based in the United States, information submitted through the inquiry form may be transferred to and stored outside Japan. Netlify’s privacy policy states that personal data may be transferred to and stored by Netlify outside the country of collection, and that Netlify relies on mechanisms such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses for cross-border transfers (https://www.netlify.com/privacy/). 9. Security measures
We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, alteration, or disclosure. This website is served over encrypted HTTPS connections, and access to inquiry submissions is limited to those who need it in order to respond to you.
10. Retention of information
Inquiry information. We retain information submitted through the inquiry form only for as long as necessary to handle your inquiry, and as a rule we delete it within 12 months after the inquiry has been handled.
Client and engagement records. If your inquiry leads to a formal engagement, the related client information and business records are retained for the period required under our agreement with you and by applicable laws and regulations.
Form submissions stored on Netlify are managed on an ongoing basis, including periodic export and deletion, consistent with Netlify’s guidance for handling personal information (https://docs.netlify.com/manage/forms/submissions/).
11. Requests for disclosure, correction, deletion or suspension of use
Under the APPI, you may request the disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, or suspension of third-party provision of your personal information. To make a request, or for any question about how we handle your personal information, contact us atinfo@cko-cpa.com. We will respond within a reasonable period after confirming your identity.
12. Cookies and analytics
We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies on this website. If we introduce analytics or similar tools in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and address any required consent before doing so.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
